I got a tattoo. I can think of only one friend who has a tattoo. So if you're one of my friends or family, you're probably wondering why in the world I got a tattoo. I'm going to tell you, but first I'll remind you: If you can't say anything nice, don't say anything at all. In May 2012, I had a baby. We planned for a home birth, but my body didn't cooperate and I had a C section. Had I lived 100 years ago I would have bled to death in childbirth and a C section is clearly better but I was still really upset. Every time I looked down at my belly I saw the scar where they sliced me open. So I got a tattoo. And now when I look down at my belly, I see birds.
