Subject: RAIN: Fri Aug 26, BBQ with Rice alumni

Dear Rice Alumnus/a In the Northwest,

BBQ THIS WEEK:  With such gorgeous, warm weather, let's take a break
from the Roanoke and enjoy the outdoors.  This month, you're all
invited for a barbecue at my house.  I'll have the grill going and
enough food and drink for all those who RSVP.  The house is
conveniently located about 3 minutes from the west end of 520.

RICE WOMEN'S BASKETBALL IN NOVEMBER:  Slackers!  I've only had 9
people (including myself) express interest.  There are over 200 of you
on this mailing list!  Sheesh.  Come support the Owls!  That said,
tickets don't actually need to be purchased until early November.  So
you have until Nov 1 to let me know if you'd like me to purchase a
ticket in your name.  The discounted seating available for groups of
25+ is sort of further up in the stands, so I think the regular price
$12 tickets closer to the court make more sense for us.  If the cost
is an issue for you, $6 general admission tickets are available...
email me and we'll work something out.  Let's plan for the game on
Saturday, Nov 26.  If we have such a jolly hoppin' good time that we
want more, we can go again the next day.  (Saturday:  Rice vs Penn,
and UW vs San Diego.  Sunday:  winner vs winner, loser vs loser)
