Games Club of Maryland -- Potomac
Who/What/Which we Are
We're a bunch of people who play board games every week. Simple as that.
You can also a read a really nice story for an
introduction (thanks, Mike!) or maybe take a look at
Ken Kaufman's
game page.
News
History
Wei-Hwa Huang, the writer of this page, first found out about this group when he was considering becoming a member of Mensa. We are mentioned as "Games Night" in the Metropolitan Washington Mensa's Monthly Calendar of Events. Wei-Hwa occasionally hears and knows about
the history of the group before he got here but he'd rather be playing games instead. But he wasn't satisfied -- no! He thought that it'd be a great idea to join the Games Club of Maryland to get more members, and volunteered himself as the liaison ... he may regret it soon! Ha ha!
Where/When/How we are
Potomac Community Center
11315 Falls Road
Potomac, MD 20854
Phone: 301-983-4471
Sessions (almost) every Wednesday from 7:00 P.M. to 10:00
P.M. The good news is, we no longer have a $2 charge; we are holed
in a back room that is hard to find, so ask for the "Board Games Group" at the
front desk. Technically, we have to be gone before 10:00 P.M. so the building
can lock up.
Buses do indeed go to the Community Center. Metrobus T2 passes by as
it goes from Friendship Heights Metro to Rockville Metro, and you can
barely make the last bus. Ride-On
route 37 also goes there, but they stop service after 6:30 pm. One of
us will probably be willing to give you a ride to a Metro Station; ask before
coming.
People
To become an official member of the Games Club of Maryland (GCOM),
you must show up at three GCOM sessions and provide your name, address, phone number, and e-mail address to
Keith Levy. If you give the information to Wei-Hwa he'll pass it on.
You do not have to be a member to play games with us! Some aliases are used on
this webpage, just for fun. If you want an alias, please e-mail Wei-Hwa.
