A very simple reaction game. There's a top card of the deck,
it'll say something like "4 (plus or minus 2)". That means, well,
you can play a "2" or a "6" on it. You play the "6", and it
actually says "6 (plus or minus 1)". So, one can play a "5" or
a "7" on it. One rule that I found clear but somehow confused
one person I was playing with is that numbers "wrap around" at
10, so 8 plus 3 is 1, and 2 minus 3 is 9. Anyway, you have
a hand and a deck of cards, and you can play any card from your hand,
draw a card from your deck to your hand,
and you don't have to take turns -- play as fast as possible.
First person to play their whole deck wins.
Great at teaching or practicing quick arithmetic skills, something that most
adults these days have probably let atrophy. Is it fun? That's
probably for you to decide. My quick arithmetic skills were
generally better than average, to the extent that I was winning
all of our games by a large amount. This might not be fun for
some. Shrug.
