    This game is a spin on the classic game of Ghost, but done with letter cards instead of players just calling out letters. To make this work, each letter card can be played as a wild card, and can be played at the beginning or end of a card. But then, to make it so that players don't play wild cards all the time, playing a card as an actual letter means the round is worth more penalty points for whomever eventually loses the challenge. But to make *that* work, you need a scoring system, which the game helpfully provides in a set of scoring chips (easily the sturdiest and most well-crafted scoring chips I've ever seen in a casual board game, by the way).

    The result? You get a game that is superficially like Ghost, but is actually richer and has more variety than Ghost .. and what's more, is actually very fun! (That is, if you like thinking of words that match particular letter patterns, and if you like Ghost, you probably do.) I would not have initially expected what seems like a bandaid attempt to fix a basic tweak on a classic game to work here, but it really does. And all it sacrifices is the ability to play the game while standing in line. I'll take it.
