This game is actually pretty similar to the award-winning hit "Apples to Apples", but instead of matching nouns with adjectives, you're trying to think of movies that match certain attributes. The attributes can be anything from starring a specific actor to using a particular prop in a scene to being of a particular genre. The player at the table who can most quickly think of matching movie titles will do very well ...
... provided that the rotating "judge" has also seen or heard of the movie, and that is the Achilles' Heel of this otherwise innovative party game. In Apples to Apples, you could be reasonably confident that most players had the appropriate general knowledge for the game to work, and even then occasionally I've had situations where the game was just inappropriate because of shared cultural knowledge issues ("Who is this 'Janet Reno'? We never hear about her in China!"). With movies, this can be a problem even if everyone is a full-fledge American -- apparently our ages and our tastes in movies just don't overlap as much as you'd think, and the game tends to stumble when movies that aren't known by everybody get announced.
Anyway, still an excellent game, if you can get a bunch of amateur movie buffs together.
