This simple Knizia strategy card game has players playing "potion" cards
into three piles. "Potions" (labeled with numbers from 1 to 7) come in three colors, which are mapped to the
piles, but there are also "poison" cards (always labeled 4) that can be played in any of the
piles. If a player makes any pile exceed 13 in value (often they are forced to), then they must take all the cards into their scoring stack, leaving their played card as the start of the new stack. At the end of the game, players score 2 points for each poison they have, and 1 point for each potion they have -- unless they have scored the most of a particular color of potion, in which case none of those count. The player with the most points loses.
The basic strategy of the game is pretty clear; try to avoid taking piles, and if you must, try to take piles in just one color. I suspect that is probably all you can do if there are 5 or more players, but it seems possible that with 3 or 4 players there might be room for more intricate strategies to pop up. Even still, it's hard to see how there would be enough available information to avoid this game turning into a luck-fest. The artwork is interesting but one can't help feel that it is also mostly unnecessary.
