Filled with a fascinating cast of characters and tokens and some background
story that probably doesn't exist,
this game was just freaking weird. A party game with five flavors of tasks:
- follow some strange rule for the rest of the game;
- do some strange performance;
- do something else strange;
- answer a strange question;
- everybody in the game goes around naming something that
fits a strange category.
The tasks range from understandable to crazy, but most of them are
just downright embarrassing. I wouldn't recommend playing this with
a room full of strangers (which, unfortunately, was what Mensa Mind Games
was), but I can certainly see it working for a group of friends who
aren't averse to doing silly things. Clearly winning isn't the goal,
but rather the memories of the game you'll either want to recount
or surpress months from now.
One really good plus is that if you like this game, it will take a
looong time before the cards repeat themselves; my guess is that
you could probably play this game 50 times before you'll see the same
tasks again. At a rate of one game a month, that's four years!
