Two-player game, with pieces on a game board that move like
chess kings. After each turn, the player must fire their laser,
an actual laser built into the corner of the board. The goal is
to shoot the opposing player's pharaoh with the laser; this is
made more complex by the fact that many of the pieces have
mirrors on them. A player may also decide to rotate a piece
instead of moving a piece on their turn.
The game certainly has a very attractive gimmick, but I remain
unconvinced that there is an exciting game underneath the
veneer of "Oooh! Laser!" Figuring out where the laser will fire
is simply not that hard. The components look nice although
the amount of plastic may mean that it won't be decorating many
coffee tables in the future. Call me cynical, but I really can't
imagine what sort of person would want to play this game
tens of times, let along hundreds, when there are so many
other more interesting two-player pure abstract games out there
(that, admittedly, don't have a laser).
