I want to climb this rock because it looks neato. The rock is clean and solid. But alas -- first I need to learn this trad leading business. Doh.
The rock from the Colchuck side (uh, from the west).
The rock from the Dragontail side (from the east).
The crack I want to climb.
A closer look at my crack. You can also see another shorter one to the right of it that's a bit harder but also looks like it would be fun.
A close up of my crack. It stays about the same size for quite a ways, so this is the size gear you'd need to protect it.
Not far at all from the base (maybe 100 yards?) there's a flat enough spot to sleep on. Not great for a tent because there are rocks, but plenty big for two sleeping bags. And this high up, there weren't many bugs at all. There are several clear streams running in the meadow.
