Hey, two birds in the hand.

Passing along from Mark Kleiman: Mark Steyn promises to quit if Kerry wins. I didn't realize I could want a Kerry win even more, but I guess all it took was the right incentive.

By the way, I wonder if Steyn's closing thoughts will get him the same sort of attention that Charlie Brooker got. Steyn said:

[If Kerry wins] My faith in the persuasive powers of journalism would be shattered; maybe it would be time to try something else — organising coups in Africa, like the alleged Sir Mark Thatcher is alleged to have allegedly done; maybe abseiling down the walls of the Presidential palace and garroting the guards personally.

Emphasis added.

(Update: Yes, he ... probably doesn't mean the White House. But with Steyn, who can say for sure?)

The Parade of Lost Souls

So I went to the Parade of Lost Souls yesterday, as well as the after party. Both were excellent. I wish I'd had time to get a costume, but long work hours and my usual apathy prevented. The weather was cold but generally dry throughout the event itself, so there was a mighty crowd. So I didn't get to see too much of the festivity itself. On the other hand, this was the first time I attended the after party. There was a live band, and it was seriously funky. I had a great time.

I'll run Halloween 2003 flashbacks from my vacation in NYC last year starting this Tuesday Friday, and after I run out of the really good ones, I'll move on to Halloween pictures from this year's Parade.
